WHAT ARE CVD DIAMOND ?

CVD stands for “chemical vapor deposition” system.

The chemical vapor deposition system begins with a diamond “seed.”
A diamond seed is a small natural diamond fragment that can undergo extreme
temperature and pressure conditions. During the CVD process, the vacuum chamber
in which the diamond “seed” is placed fills with gases that are heavy in carbon
and is then heated to well over 1000 degree with intense heat then turns the gases into “plasma.”
For those of us who do not know, the plasma is what helps “build” the layers of the diamonds,
making them into the lovely gemstones that we know and love so well.

WHAT ARE HPHT DIAMOND ?

HPHT stands for high pressure and high temperature. To grow an HPHT diamond, a small diamond seed is placed in carbon, the element that diamonds are made of. The diamond seed is exposed to extreme heat and pressure, replicating the way diamonds are naturally grown underground by the earth. The diamond seed is exposed to temperatures of over 1100 degrees and pressure of about 1.5 million PSI. The carbon melts and forms a diamond around the seed. It is then cooled and the diamond is formed.

WHAT ARE MOISSANITE DIAMOND ?

Moissanite is a simulant of diamond made up of silicon carbide. A diamond simulant is a stone that has a similar appearance to a diamond, but is not a real diamond. It is very difficult to tell apart a diamond and moissanite making moissanite a common diamond alternative.  If you prefer the price point of moissanite but still want a diamond, there are lots of “Slash” to make your diamond affordable.
